National Privacy Principles The National Privacy Principles established by the Privacy Act 1988 apply to GLOTEL Australia. GLOTEL is committed to ensuring that all personal information is collected and disclosed in accordance with the law and with utmost consideration to our candidates and employees. All information will only be collected in a fair and lawful way.
What is considered 'personal information' Personal information is any information or an opinion (whether true or not) about you. It may range from the very sensitive (eg medical history) to the everyday (eg address/phone numbers). It would include opinions of others about your work performance (whether true or not), your work experience and qualifications, aptitude test results and other information obtained by us in connection with your possible work placements. Personal information includes sensitive information.
What is considered 'sensitive information' Sensitive information is a special category of personal information. It is information or opinion about your:
- racial or ethnic origin; political opinion
- memberships of a political association or religious beliefs, affiliations or philosophical beliefs
- Membership of a professuibak or trade association or membership of a trade union
- sexual preferences or practices
- criminal record
- health or disability (at any time)
- expressed wishes about the future provision of health services
In most cases, Glotel will only collect use or disclose sensitive information where it has received your consent.
Who will be collecting your personal information Your personal information will be collected by Glotel to provide you with recruitment services. Glotel may also collect your personal information in connection with the provision of recruitment services to you.
How your information will be collected Generally, Glotel collects personal information from you directly. For example ir collects personal information when you:
- deal with Glotel in person, by telephone, letter, fax or email;
- supply a resume; fill out and submit a registration form;
- submit any other information in connection with your application for registration.
- Personal information about you may also be collected from a third party. For example when Glotel receives:
- results of inquiries of former employers, work colleagues, prefessional associations of registration body;
- the results of any competency or medical test
- performance feedback (whether positive or negative)
- any complaint from or about you in the workplace
- any information about a workplace accident in which you are involved
- any information about any insurance investigation, litigation, registration or professional disciplinary matter, criminal matter, inquest or inquiry in which you are involved.
If Glotel does not have your prior consent, it will take reasonable steps to inform you that it has collected personal information from a third party and ensure you are aware of the purposes for which Glotel has collected your personal information.
How your information will be used Glotel may use your personal and sensitive information in conjunction with:
- actual or possible work placement
- any tests or assessments you are required to undergo disclose the
- any workplace rehabilitation
- managemnt of any complaint, investigation or inquiry in which you are involved
- any insurance claim or proposal that requires disclosure of your personal information
Who will the information be disclosed to Glotel may disclose your personal to:
- potential and actual employers and clients of Glotel
- referees
- our insurers or other bodies that have a legal right to obtain information
- a Workers Compensation body
If Glotel engages a third party contractor to perform services which involves handling of personal information, it takes reasonable steps to prohibit the contractor from using personal information except for the purposes for which is was supplied.
Glotel do not sell database information to marketing companies or use your information for purposes other than those in accordance with the RCSA Professional Code of Conduct and Glotel's recruitment standards.
If you do not provide Glotel with information sought Any information sought that is not provided may limit our ability to provide recruitment services.
You can request access to your information Subject to some exceptions that are set out in the National Privacy Principles, you can gain access to the personal information that we hold about you.
We do refuse access if it would interfere with the privacy rights of other persons or if it breach any confidentiality that attaches to that information.
If you wish to obtain access to your personal information you should contact our Privacy Co-ordinator. You will need to be in a position to verify your identity.
You should also anticipate that it may take a little time to process your application for access as there may be a need to retrieve information from storage and review information in order to determine what information may be provided.
